Karine MASENELLI-VARLOT

After a Lavoisier post-doctoral fellowhsip at the University of Western Ontario in Canada in 1999, Karine Masenelli-Varlot joined INSA Lyon for the first time. She taught at Nancy I University from 2000 to 2002 and returned to INSA Lyon and MATEIS Laboratory, where she currently holds her Professor tenure.



MAIN REPONSABILITIES
  • Member of the Managing Board of the Institute for Multiscale & Technology (LabEx iMUST), since 2015.
  • Director of the Lyon Saint-Etienne Microscopy Consortium CLYM (federation gathering 13 laboratories, one of the platforms of the French Network METSA), since 2016.
  • Member of the Managing Board of the Nanoperando Research network, since 2018.
  • Chairwoman of the Scientific Committee of the Manutech-SLEIGHT Graduate School, since 2020.



TEACHING
  • Basic physics (optics, electricity)
  • Applied mathematics for international students at INSA.
  • 50% of the courses are given in English
  • Supervision of 17 PhD students, among which 4 are ongoing
     



COURSES
  • Basic physics for international undergraduate students: geometric optics, measurements and uncertainties, electrokinetics (in English), physical optics (in French).
  • Applied mathematics for international undergraduate students: vectors, complex numbers, differential calculus, parametric curves, integrals, fields (in English)
  • Electron microscopy for graduate students (in English) and lifelong trainings (in French).
