Jean-Philippe COLOMBIER

Jean-Philippe Colombier graduated in 2002 from ENS/University of Lyon and performed his PhD degree work at the Atomic Energy Commission with a degree in 2005. After a postdoctoral position at the Paris observatory, he joined Jean Monnet University as an associate professor in 2007 and has been promoted professor in 2017 to establish a scientific direction focused on multi-scale simulations of ultrafast laser-matter interaction. His activity received worldwide scientific recognition as he co-authored about 70 papers in internationally renowned journals and was holding invited contributions at major conferences in the ultrashort-laser interaction field.

MAIN REPONSABILITIES

Jean-Philippe Colombier is the leader of the Manutech-SLEIGHT Graduate School first research axis “Predict, Test and define light-induced surface modification”. He has actively participated to the three Manutech PIA-funded projects by coordinating their scientific branches (LabEx Manutech-SISE - Axis “Hierarchical surfaces” 2011-2019) and as a member of their scientific committees. He has collaborated to more than 15 national & european projects in the last 5 years, was the coordinator and principal investigator of 2 international ANR programs with Romania and Germany, an international project with Ottawa University and a regional project.

TEACHING

Jean-Philippe Colombier is currently the director of the Physics department of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Jean Monnet University. He teached at Telecom Saint-Etienne (TSE) from 2007 to 2017, and was involved in the board direction committee of TSE. For the last 5 years, he has had the opportunity to get involved in many courses related to classical and modern physics for students of the Faculty of Sciences and Technolog . These courses are oriented on the light phenomena and on the response of an excited material, which are the major issues that can be found in his research activity.
